Trike-A-Thon

Monday ,April 23, 2012,my youngest son had a Trike-A-Thon activity at school yesterday. Parents were asked to bring tricycle for their kids. The kids left the learning center at 10:45 am riding the school bus going to Fort Towson Depot which is only a few blocks away while the parents followed them. Children were excited seeing the tricycle and started riding. After an hour of fun, lunch was served and shared by everybody before going back to school

Trike-A-Thon is a fun, week-long safety curriculum and fundraising program that supportsSt. Jude. The program is a great way for daycare centers, preschools and other organizations to teach children valuable riding-toy safety lessons, which they learn from Bikewell Bear and Pedals the Bunny through educational materials provided by St. Jude. At the end of the week, children bring their riding toys to school to celebrate the lessons they have learned and their fundraising success for St. Jude. There is no cost to host a Trike-A-Thon.

How does the event work?
St. Jude sends your school/group a free event kit with coordinator resources, which includes a storybook, coloring books, posters, a St. Jude DVD and more.
Parents help their children gain sponsorships from family, friends and coworkers through offline and online fundraising.
Children learn riding-toy safety lessons during the Trike-A-Thon week.
At the end of the week, participants bring their riding toys to the Trike-A-Thon event and practice the safety lessons they have learned.
Children can earn fun prizes based upon their fundraising success.

Why host an event?
Teach children riding-toy safety while helping save the lives of children battling cancer and other catastrophic diseases.
Provide a meaningful opportunity to bring your community together.
Teach your students and staff the power they have through volunteerism.
Generate press coverage for your preschool, organization or group.
Contribute to St. Jude’s groundbreaking research and pioneering care to save the lives of children in communities everywhere.

  1. How I wish I had this opportunity when I was still as young as your son. Hahaha. But I believe I will be able to do it in the future. :)

  2. Such a cool and interactive concept! I was able to witness something like this back in Singapore. They had a similar setup to this only that it was open for all the kids to try. The activity was established to help encourage and to help teach kids how to understand traffic signs and how to properly ride their bikes (they even had mini-cars for the bigger kids to try and drive). =)

  4. looks like fun but I have to say something about the lack of helmets...even if it is just a trike, helmets are one necessary accessory.

  14. This is definitely a fun activity for the kids.
It's a healthy competition as well. In this way,
the children will learn to struggle for the win but
know how to accept failure at the same time.
