PEBA 2012 OFW Blog Entry Nominees No.7 Blog and Me

The world has become a smaller place because of the net and Facebook and OFWs can at least be virtually closer with their families online.
ReplyDeletetrue, because of modern technology like FB, ang lapit na natin sa isa't isa.
DeleteAt least it promotes family ties and at the same time reconnects old friends. Andami ko na din nameet ulit na old friends because of facebook.
DeleteAt bumilis na din communication via chats and messages plus we get more updates from other peoples faster via status messages and photos.
DeleteI agree. I found my best friend who I haven't seen since we graduated from high school, 15yrs!
DeleteSocial Media can actually make two persons afar from each other be together. I hope things could be more easier means for them to see each other more.
DeleteThrough all the negativity people say when discussing about the internet, this is what I'm thankful for. The internet allows us to connect and reconnect with families and friends. :)
ReplyDeleteone of the things that we should be greatfull talaga
DeleteVoted again, Mommy Tess. :)
DeleteAgree! for OFW family like me, FB and social media and mobile phone have been beneficial in making us easily get in touch with one another. thanks to technology!!!
DeleteSocial Media or the so called new-electronic media/e-social now greatly helps and affects our lives. The morning we wake up in the morning up to the "hikab" time social media never fails to connect us to our love ones.
ReplyDeletethank you for the compliment.
DeleteSocial media bridged families and friends way better than it was before. Although some still prefer the old fashioned version of things, like printed cards and such. But that's not the point. The real deal is how social media closed the gap of communication between individuals.
Social media makes the world a smaller place to live in.
ReplyDeleteindeed, lumiit ang mundo because of FB.
DeleteSocial media indeed is connecting lives. This is why POST OFFICES and alike feels threaten about this technology.
ReplyDeletebuhay pa ba mga post office ,lol.
DeleteYes, but more of postcards na lang ata sila nowadays or mga official letters. Less personal letters this days.
DeleteI love social media sites! Mas madami chika, balita, news nasasagap kasi connected! hehe Mas nakita ko din importance nito nung umalis kami bansa.. now gusto ko naman mayakap sila!- kelan kaya pedeng gawin un- via technology? hehe
ReplyDeletesame here ,sana mauso yung yakap naman, kahit malayo, makurot natin sila
Deleteoo nga!!! over high-tech na nun! hehe.. pero posible un! hehe
Deletemiss them so much! esp pag Christmas!!!
DeleteThanks for FB and other social media, mas mura na ang communication sa ating mga mahal sa buhay from and to anywhere in the world.
DeleteSocial media like FB, Twitter has made the world smaller and reaching out anywhere in the world is not a problem anymore. Thanks to this amazing people who made this possible.
ReplyDeleteoo nga ,these people are geniuses
Deleteit's good to know this info about PEBA, Mommy Tess :) I really a fan of your post and about this one, It's true - the communication technology is as easy as you can get nowadays and to utilize it wisely to connect people such as expats and OFW - its a relief that we know they are not that too far to connect to them :)
ReplyDeletethank you for the compliment. It is glad to know na may nagkakagusto sa mga post ko.
DeleteIn today's era, distance is no longer an issue if we talk about communication with loved ones abroad. The birth of online social networking site like Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo Messenger and a lot more... make way to be closer even miles away. This is the BEST thing that the world has invented that OFWs are very thankful for.
ReplyDeletebest talaga, we make our family and freind closer to us
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit. left a comment on your entry too.
Deleteindeed, technology is for the common good :) im just wondering what is next after FB....hmmmmmmmm
ReplyDeletesana FB Advanced naman. lol
DeleteThank God for Facebook and also Skype! Now, OFWs can battle homesickness because of the wonders of technology.
I'm super thankful talaga sa internet at technology!
ReplyDeleteOo nga ,mga kamag anak ,kaibigan at long lost friend .
DeleteYes! Pati boyfriend ko, na-meet ko rin online. Kaya laking pasalamat ko talaga sa Internet and social media. Naloloka talaga ako without it! :) I can't imagine living in a world without the internet and social media :D
DeleteSocia media made everything easy when it comes to communication .. keeps you closeer with your love once .. but nnothing beats being with them especially to a growing child .
ReplyDeletetrue, salamat sa pagbisita sa site ko.
Deletefacebook is really a blessing. we do not need to pay that much to be able to connect to our loved ones. our cousins overseas can also attend family gatherings without really coming in person..... :)
ReplyDeleteA real Blessing talaga.
DeleteTechnology evolves and so communication. We are so grateful to have these social media sites, these are use to make people closer in different walks of life.
ReplyDeletetrue, thanks for visiting my site
DeleteMy parents are OFWs, so I know how difficult it is to grow up without having your parents around. Thank goodness there's now Skype and social media sites which helps to ease the homesickness of OFWs and their families.
ReplyDeleteNaku, I'm not an OFW but I'm so addicted to FB na. :)
ReplyDeleteAs in feeling ko second most important siya sa cellphone. Haha!
Kasi nga naman mas convenient at hassle free to kesa sa tawag or text.
ReplyDeletetrue, thanks for visiting my post.
DeleteI haven't experience being an OFW but for me, ang laking tulong ng internet at social media para hindi natin masyadong ma miss ang ating mahal sa buhay..:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting here.
Deletei do agree with that! and we have faster conversation with them now~ even the remittances!
DeleteI thing all these are blessing of 21st century technology on human life....and social media site like facebook is simply awesome....like a god gift thing.
ReplyDeleteyes,a real blessing from God!
DeleteWith our technology system these days, almost everything is possible.
ReplyDeletetrue, thanks for visiting my post.
DeleteFB yata ang pinakamagandang nangyari sa internet, kahit anong edad pwedeng makapaglaro ng online games, nanay ko na 78 years na ngayon dati sa farmville nilalaro tpos sims, ewan ko kung ano na ngayon, pero at least natuto sya mag-open at mag type sa computer which is very impossible had it not for FB when my siblings in living in another countries asked me to make her an account, so they can get updates and see her often..
DeleteThanks to the internet for keeping us all close together even if we are miles away. I have aunts working abroad and it is easier for us to communicate through skype, facebook and e-mail. Before we have to record our voice in a cassette tape and send it to our aunt.
ReplyDeleteskype is a big help too. libre tawag at chat .laking tipid
DeleteThanks to these geniuses, they are really awesome!
ReplyDeletetrue, thanks for visiting my site
Deletethanks to the technology huh? and of course to all the social media that helps us connect with our family back home. I'm sure it's a lot easier now compared before where overseas workers have hard time seeing their family and even talking to them. But now we can even see them live through live chats :D malayo man, malapit din hehehe
ReplyDeletea lot better talaga and most important, laking tipid.
(teary eyed mode)
DeleteSocial media plays the biggest role for the world to connect as one :-) I am thankful to FB :-) It is easy for my family in the Philippines to send me a message than them calling me. I still talk to them when I miss my Mom's voice but most of the time, she see and read updates from us through FB :-)
DeleteI totally understand you. My father used to work abroad. Hirap pa ng communication, either snail mail or landline calls. :)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.dekaphobe.com/
DeleteMy whole family migrated abroad since 2006 and I was left all alone, but I am happy because social media has a big part in our life. When I miss my family,in just one click I see and hear them. And I am also updated on them.
DeleteI am hoping I can create a social network specially created for OFWs. Great one tatess! Goodluck on the Pinoy Blog Awards!
ReplyDeletethank you. please vote na lang for me, lol.
DeleteMalayo man parang malapit na rin dahil sa Facebook, napaka-helpful lalo na sa mga may "long distance relationship" heheh
ReplyDeleteisa ako sa "long distance relationship dati".pero wala pang FB dati.
Deletewith my fiance being miles away, naappreciate ko the use of social media. at leats i dont feel his absence that much cos we get to update each other very often :)
ReplyDeleteRovie
The Bargain Doll
http://thebargaindoll.blogspot.com
DeleteI guess this is one of the grand results of technological revolution that we can have each others company even when located millions of miles away. Perfect media for OFWs to connect with their beloved families.
ReplyDeleteperfect for OFW talaga ,laking tipid pa.
ReplyDeletethank you sa pagbalik ..
DeleteI'm thankful for today's social media because it's how I connect with my partner who is an OFW. Everyday kami sa Facebook or YM nagcha-chat.
ReplyDeleteToday's technology can make things possible. People who are miles apart can now be closer again thanks to social media.
ReplyDeleteThe few minutes that facebook was down last night and everyone was like panicking only showed important it is to the majority. OFWs who wants to keep in touch with their families rely very much on this platform nowadays that it has become a big part of their/our everyday lives. Cheap, accessible and instant communication system is indeed a necessity for people away from their loved ones.
ReplyDeleteI quite got goosebumps with the blog post Miss Tess having most of my relatives outside the Philippines before t'was really a big deal to stay at granny's house to wait for their call and thankful if you got the chance to talk with them and now thru facebook things just gets easier and way better :))
ReplyDeleteIf there is anything to be thankful for about social media especially Facebook, it is the chance that it has given to bridge distances among family members.
ReplyDeleteUsing social media, especially facebook is the great for people, great way to connect with friends and family , finding long los relatives , connect with the past , and knowing the present lives, hoping for the future and more!
ReplyDeleteSwerte na nga rin tayo these days dahil sa mga social media networks na we can get connected with our loved ones sa ibang bansa and right away nakakausap natin sila pagmagvideo chat man... namimiss ko din yong snail mail o may natatanggap sa mail na letters from loved ones oh friends dahil feel ko parang personal na personal talaga ba. But it is nice na may option tayo pag medyo madalian ang conversation o kung may emergency man makontak agad natin.
ReplyDeleteI could not imagine how hard it was for you to be separated from your 4-month old baby back then! Yes, fb and all these social media have been very helpful in connecting us to our loved ones.
ReplyDeleteThe presence of social media offers unlimited advantages to many people. It bridges gap and makes new connection.
ReplyDeleteNice entry, sis!
ReplyDeleteI become too an OFW in 2002 and my daughter was 5. In the 3 years I was away, I miss so much of her years. 2002 was the Friendster years and yes it made a difference of being alone in a far away land. ;)
san ko nga ba narinig na facebook's even selling a birthday virtual item to send to your friends and loved ones? wonder what happened to that.
ReplyDeletemeron na nga yata.
Deletewow naman.. truly, thank God for providing man with the intelligence to make the internet... it has bridged so many people and have touched many lives
ReplyDeletethanks for this post... truly, the internet has bridged many people and have touched so many lives in many different ways
Gone are the days of sulat, voice tape, video tape, expensive phone calls at sa lahat medyo bawas na ang pagkaka homesick.
DeleteNaka-pin lagi ang Facebook sa tab ko kahit after doing AH (alam mo yun diba?) just in case me gustong maki chika. The only time I close Facebook is when I'm beating a deadline. Parang parte na ng online and social life, kumbaga.
ReplyDeletecorrect, we owe everything to social media lalo na fb.
DeleteFacebook is indeed very dynamic. Wala ka ng hahanapin pa. I prefer it better myself than the other social media sites around.
ReplyDeleteMe too, lahat kasi dito na tumatambay.thank you for visiting my entry
ReplyDeleteFacebook talaga ,kahit hindi na mag check ng email.thank you for visiting my entry
DeleteSocial Media Sites are the best! Making life easier. :D
ReplyDeletethank you for visiting my entry
Deletetama ka sa lahat ng na-inumerate mo dumarami ang kaibigan, stalker at frenemies mo sa Facebook. lahat nalang ng ilagay ng naka-add sa list mo nababasa mo kahit yung mga bagay na di mo na gusto mabasa TMI ika nga. nung una kong nadiscover ang FB sabi ko ang saya I see my old friends and relatives and we get connected na nasa ibang bansa na lahat. Pero mas maraming pros sa cons kaya I don't complain haha!
ReplyDeleteOh, good luck sa awards :)
Maraming friend at marami ring nag aaway away.
DeleteFacebook has indeed changed our lives!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
xoxo
MrsMartinez
Thank you.
DeleteTrue. I was surprised to see my relatives as well, even those I haven't seen for so long, on Facebook. It seems like we've been connected once again through Social Media. :)
ReplyDeleteOld friends ,long lost relatives, nasa FB na to meet us.
DeleteFacebook really helped people of this generation. Imagine, you can even have a chat with your long lost friend, connect with your families abroad and even look pictures that you're tagged in, and most of all, have a reunion with your batchmates! (It happened to me and my mom)
ReplyDeleteThank you for this wonderful entry!
Than you so much for your kind words.
DeleteI just could imagine how things would be as they develop social media further. Maybe we can speak to hologram version from the other side of the world.
ReplyDeleteNext siguro ,hologram na.
DeleteDone voting. Good luck ma'am Tess!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you1
ReplyDeleteTrue, dahi lsa modern tech, mas madal ing magdecide kung aalis or not ng bansa.
DeleteI remember the days when I was working abroad. Life was kinda difficult being away with my family but thanks to skype and facebook, I felt like they are just with me :)
ReplyDeleteMe too, those were my Saudi days.
Deletegoodluck mami Tess, I've voted already. Social Media connects lives and dreams. No more Islands and far places as we are all connected by WEB
ReplyDeleteNo more lonely days.
Deletefacebook + other social media sites, are really perfect avenues to bridge the distance, especially for our OFW kababayans, and best of all it is free + all you need is a reliable internet connection, WIFI or a handy-dandy mobile device.
ReplyDeletegood luck on this. i hope you win! ;)
Thank you!
DeleteThanks to technology, internet particulary. No parents can miss their child's growing up years anymore.
ReplyDeleteParents deserves this ind of communication.
DeleteSocial media has a great impact when it comes to networking as it made the long distance communication easy to reach through fb updates and chat.
Dati sulat, video or voice tape, or mahal na tawag. Ngayon instant communication na, mura pa.
ReplyDeletetrue, cheapest and fastest way of communication and bonding.
You only need to have a good internet connection :)
DeleteMy parents have been OFWs for a long time, we keep the ties strong through social media. Malaki talaga nagagawa ng internet to bring families close, despite the distance.
ReplyDeletesobra na nga ang bonding kahit magkakalayo
DeleteFacebook makes the world smaller, not to mention its video call where you can see live the other party
ReplyDeleteskype na ngayon, same here, malapit na mga kamag anak ko because of this.
DeleteI've seen my long long lost friend 25yrs no comm.only here in fb thnx to Facebook again more power
ReplyDeleteEverything has its advatage and disadvatage.
