In this modern world, Filipinos still follows the old custom or superstitious belief of not cutting the child's hair before its first birthday or the child will be sickly. Whether it is true or not, nobody knows and we still be following this belief for the next generations.
My y eldest son's first haircut was in 1999 when he turned one year old. He seems to be a very cooperative costumer. Probably just wondering what is going on, on top of his head. I was working in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia(KSA) that time so my sister just sent me all the pictures of his birthday celebration including his first hair cut by mail.
hahaha mas happy sya dun sa maybuhok lol.. Thanks for joining again sis..
ReplyDeletetrue yan sis, hanggang ngayon .ayaw na ayaw nyang ginugupitan siya .umiiyak at masama ang loob.
ReplyDeleteyour child is so cute and adorable.. all his curls are gone now.. :)
ReplyDeletegreetings from reanaclaire.com

ReplyDeletecute naman! pansin ko kahit mga lalake ayaw din pinapaki alaman ang hair, umiiyak din nephew ko pag ginugupitan...

ReplyDeletetakot lang dun sa barber kaya pinigil umiyak
DeleteCool! yes, I prefer the bald look!!
ReplyDeleteAng galing mag-evolve ng technology...kaya mas madali at mabilis na ang communication sa ngayon. However, one must be aware of the latest trend para hindi mapag-iwanan!:)
Para syang na stre-stress ng ginugupitan though he looks so cute. 1999 email pa at YM uso means of communication noon though internet is not yet that affordable back then.
ReplyDeleteWaaaahhh...that wasn't a haircut, they shaved all his hair off!! :( ang cute ng hair eh, afro! ;)
ReplyDeletehahaha, oo nga, kinalbo talaga.
Deletewow, it must've been hard for him. Having their first haircut is like the first trip to the dentist. :)
ReplyDeletenabago ung total face nya after hung gupit!! pro gwapo prin!!
ReplyDeletethanks for the compliment
DeleteNice... Its one memorable moment to be cherished!
ReplyDeleteHaha. I think the one with the bald look is better too!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that your child is a very cooperative customer. They (children) really hate body mutilation! :)
Anyway, are you able to keep some trimmings for scrapbooking? Hehe. Another Pinoy practice. :D
I didn't know that there was a superstitious belief about getting a haircut before the kid turns 1. Although it didn't quite matter to my nieces and nephews.. Heck, my nephew even had his first haircut at age 3. :) And yes, I would have to agree that the 2nd photo of your son looks cuter. :)
ReplyDeleteOne cute baby,.. BTW, I like his curly hair.. Astig tignan, and his new hair, SUPERB! :)
ReplyDeletehindi na maganda ngayong teenager sya, kaya palaging skin head na.
DeleteBinata na sya!hihihi.... Manliligaw na yan soon. :D
ReplyDeleteoo nga ,malaki pa sa akin ngayon
DeleteIt's so touching to see the pictures of your eldest first hair cut!
ReplyDeleteI have to smile and giggle, too over the before and after picture, he did seem (at least on the pictures!) to favour his curly locks. But I agree with the comments above, he is cute with and without curls.
Oh my, how time flies. 1999 is the year my eldest was born. I remember saving her first locks of hair - sadly not from a haircut! - as she was hospitalised (9 months old)and they had to remove a patch of her hair for her to be fed with fluids, as she would have otherwise been dehydrated.
I forgot about the superstitious belief of not cutting hair before the child is one y.o.!
Having them submit to a haircut can be a big challenge and exercise. You need to condition them kids that having a hair cut is a very enjoyable thing :)
ReplyDeletePersonally, I find his curly hair adorable but having a child's head shaven is like a right of passage, di ba?
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is 18 months old already but we didn't cut her hair because it's still too short.
