As a young child, I always dreamt of a good life. My parents were poor but did not fear life's challenges. Education was the only thing that they could give us for a better life. They worked hard to make sure each one of us got a college degree. And by God's grace and guidance, we all moved on to the next chapter of our lives when all the goals were achieved. We moved to a new house, far away from were we grew up, a much better place to live, in a good neighborhood.

There was something to celebrate there, we were one stepped forward for a better tomorrow. But life did not end from there, and we had more dreams that needed to be accomplish. My parents put up their own business while I worked overseas to fulfill my dream, got married and ended up in the US with a family of my own. Our first year in the US was more of an adjustment period, and once again a fear of being in a new place scared me a lot especially about my kids. Relocating means, they have to leave behind all their friends in the new state and school and had to start all over again making new friends. It was not as easy as I thought, but life is a fight and we needed to win for a good life.

Life is an unending journey and I  am grateful that I overcame  most of  the trials that  God gave me and my family. One of the most important lesson I learned in life is, no matter how hard life brings us,  do not let those hindrances let you down. Find the solutions and work for it. Life is a gamble we win some, we lose some  but the important thing is, we should always celebrate moments of simplicity and contentment in life like the Allstate Good Life, come rain or come shine, we all live for good. Perseverance, dreams and faith in God are all we needed to recognize triumph over adversity, fear and doubt.

What about you? Do you have your own good life to share? We would like to hear your story through the comment section of this post.

  2. I can relate to that - we've been so poor when I grew up that we often wonder if there was going to be food on the table at the end of the day. Yes, I agree that education has its hand at making life easier and better now. We are not rich but we are not poor either. :)

  5. We have likely the same beginnings here when we moved to the Philippines from China. Life was very hard then but now eventually everything becomes just right. :)

  6. God is good to us for despite difficulties, and trials still everything ends well.

Never stop living our lives, to dream and to journey into the world beyond our comfort zone.

That is me, and I'm proud I'm brought up with faith in God and feet always on the ground.

  10. Sounds like we have similar experienced :) but those past experienced we've had definitely help us to become who we are right now. Life is a cycle, it's like a wheel rolling up and down, we just got to face and deal problems we may encounter in life.

  11. What a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing. We weren't rich either as we were poor (still are... LOL), but we had a good life no matter what. God is still good! Wish you all the best in life.

  12. Hay, we all have different experiences for the hardships in life, but the good thing is, we never gave up on life! ;)

kahit anong problema ang darating, as long as andyan ang pagtitiwala natin sa Diyos at sa ating sarili, di tayo mabibigo.

  14. One thing that our parents told us, that we have to aim for higher education coz it's the only thing they can give us. They too strive hard to send us to college and with God's grace we were able to survive and now have a better life. I am so thankful to God for all that we have now and also grateful to have parents that never give up on supporting us.

  15. Wonderful and inspiring story. I always believe that being poor is not a hindrance to a good life. Having a good life depends on the hard work you want yourself to be at so that you can have a better life, one that you wish to have.

Good life does not necessarily mean that one is free from trials and problems. Good life is more of your values and perspective in life.

  18. An inspiring post like this is what I need now as I face challenges in my work. I wish the hardships will be over. I'm not that good in handling life's battles but as you've said, our attitude on how to deal with our problems is more important than the battle itself.
