    1. A Thai who stumble upon this blog accidentally.

To answer your question: Not exactly.

Kickboxing (in the West or in Japanese) is mixed with Muay Thai, Karate, and Western boxing. I don't know much about the rule but from what I saw, they don't use elbows or knees as much as Muay Thai do.

FYI, Muay Thai from the gyms is adapted from ancient Mauy Thai (which we sometime called Muay Boran) for less violence to be sport. If you want to see Mauy Boran, see the first episode of Ong Bak by Tony Jaa. Some of his moves in the film is Muay Boran.

For those who want to visit my country, welcome anytime. Thailand is not different from other country in that we have both good and bad things, also good and bad people. (Hope you the first :)) We don't speak English as our native language so there might be a bit language barrier, but most Thai, esp. middle class, can understand English. They're just too shy to speak. But if you need any help, just tell them that you are Filipinos and you need their help, most of them will do.

Happy trip no matter where you go!
