15.5 Pound Baby Chun Chun

Bonny baby: Chun Chun was born health weighing 15l.52lbs in Xinxiang city, Henan province on Saturday

Chun Chun, a 15.5-pound newborn baby in the city of Xinxiang, Henan Province has set the record for the heaviest baby born in China. The baby was delivered via caesarean section on Saturday  which the  hospital officials said was lasted for about 20 minutes .Both the mother and the baby boy are doing fine in the hospital  according to doctors who spoke with the Chinese newspaper the Dahe Daily.

Mother Wang Yujuan, 29, reportedly told local media that her pregnancy with her second child felt different than her first pregnancy with Chun Chun's big sister, who weighed 8.8 pounds at birth.
"I clearly felt that my body was more clumsy than when I had been pregnant with my daughter. My belly was bigger than it was then," Wang said.
She continued, "I guessed the baby would be between 10 and 11 pounds. I never expected to hear that he weighs 15.5 pounds."
Han Jingang, Chun Chun's father, told the Sun that his wife did not do anything different while she was pregnant with their son. He was thrilled when she gave birth to "such a big, fat son."
"Today is the first day of spring in the Chinese calendar and he's a 'dragon baby,'" Han told reporters. "I feel very happy."

The heaviest birth that  on record wieghed 10.8kgs(34 lbs) was a baby boy  born in Ohio in 1879 but unfortunately died 11 hours after birth.

  1. Ohh...this reminds me of a Chinese colleague who is really heavy though he is shorter than me. When he rides with me in my motorcycle, I always have to tell him how heavy he is. This got me thinking whether Chinese are really naturally heavy... :)

  10. It's in the heredity. I would like surmise that their forebears were of big built and structure. They never knew that, for sure.

  19. Huge! No wonder he was born c-section. It must run in their family if the eldest sister was born 8.8lbs.
