LEGOLAND Parks

LEGO in Latin means "I put together" or "I assemble." Lego was founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen started making wooden toys in his small workshop in Billund, Denmark. Two years later, he decided to put a name for his toys and his workshop. The company has passed from father to son and is now owned by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, a grandchild of the founder.  LEGO products are sold in more than 130 countries. Their head office is in Billund, Denmark but have subsidiaries and branches throughout the world.

In June 1968, LEGOLAND® Billund, a Lego-themed theme parks.owned and operated by the British theme park company Merlin Entertainment.opened for the first time on a 9 acre site. All buildings, landscapes and vehicles were built using standard LEGO bricks. The parks are marketed to families with younger children ages 2 through 12. Each park is 100+ acres with more than 50 rides shows and attractions.

Currently, there are 5 LEGOLAND parks in the world:
  • LEGOLAND Billund (Billund, Denmark) opened in 1968.
  • LEGOLAND Windsor (Windsor, England, United Kingdom) opened in 1996.
  • LEGOLAND California (Carlsbad, San Diego County, California, USA) opened in March 20, 1999.
  • LEGOLAND Deutschland (Günzburg, Germany) opened in the Spring of 2002.
  • LEGOLAND Florida (Winter Haven, Florida, USA) opened in Fall 2011.

Legoland Billund has ten different worlds: Imagination Zone, LEGOREDO Town, Duplo Land, Adventure Land, Miniland, Viking land, Pirate Land, Lego City, Knights Kingdom,  and polar land.

Legoland Windsor has twelve areas in the park: The Beginning, Pirates Landing, Imagination Centre, Miniland, Traffic, LEGO City, Land of the Vikings, Duplo Land, Kingdom of the Pharaohs, Knights Kingdom, and Adventure Land.

Legoland California has nine sections: Fun Town, Castle Hill, The Beginning, Dino Island, Pirate Shores, Explore Village, Miniland USA, Imagination Zone, and Land of Adventures. In addition, a water park was opened too.

Legoland Deutschland, the park has seven areas: Imagination Center, Miniland, LEGO X-treme, LEGO City, Knights Kingdom, Adventure Land, and Land of the Pirates.

Legoland Florida is the world's largest Legoland park and the second Legoland park in the US .The park is divided into 10 areas: Fun Town, The Beginning, Duplo Land, Miniland U.S.A, Kingdoms, Pirates Cove, Imagination Zone,  Land of Adventure, Technic, Lego City, and a restored replica of Cypress Gardens. Legoland Florida opened a water park replacing the former Cypress Gardens "Splash Island" water park

I would like to bring my kids in Legoland in Florida someday to see the special attractions they offer. What about you, which one do you want to go to?

  18. So glad to have read something about the Legoland park again. I was able to write something about it a few months back (it was about waste management). Sigh.. I wish they would build the same park here in the Philippines. I'll surely visit it (despite my age!) :) But if I had a chance to visit one, I'll definitely try the one in Florida -- as I have relatives there. :)

  22. Oh, first sentence is a nice to know. :)

I've used Lego since childhood, and I admit that I still enjoy playing them with young cousins.. ㅋㅋ They are really enjoyable to play, as you become an engineer by your own. ㅋㅋ

I would love to go to that place, I don't care about what they say. Hehe..

But, the excruciating pain you get from these blocks. Priceless. Hehe. Peace.
