My 4 Year Old Can Read

My little boy learned the alphabet all by himself by heart before he turns 3. Credit goes to  VTech Learning Laptop, his constant companion since he was a baby. He started schooling at age 3 and doing pretty good in class but when we moved to another State, he stopped  schooling. He is  not allowed to go to kindergarten yet because of his age, school only accept 5 years old and I also enrolled him in head start but he is on a waiting list until  now. So, as a mother,  I have to teach him at home to not to waste his time.

Both me and my husband loves to buy books for our children whenever we see some interesting books for them. Hubby  loves to read  books for our son whenever he is home or my son will ask for him to read. Hubby bought 2 new books on weekend for our little boy and he loves them all.

A video of my  son reading one of the new book bought by daddy while mommy is busy doing her thing. He is reading pretty good for his age. Nothing better than seeing your kids learning everyday.

You can read my post about him here:

  1. It's good he starts to read at an early age. He has a nice headstart.

  2. The magic of first seeing your kid knowing how to read is one of my favorite highs as a father. Congrats Ms. Tess. Yes, kids that can read at 4 are advance.

  3. Wow! I love hearing the way he says the words. Very cute voice and at his age he fluently pronounced the words properly, amazing kids.

    1. As what I've read from parents forum; some of the 5 year old are still struggle with letter recognition. And the most common factor that they see in these kids are that, kids whose parents work with their children regularly have better letter and word recognition and the parents who use TV as a babysitter, have kids less interested in learning.

Point here is that the more we invest time with our kids, it really pays off! :)

      Bravo Ms. Tess!

  5. Great job for teaching him mommy! Kids learn how to read at a young age when surrounded by books. My sons learned how to read at age 3 and 4 respectively.
Clap clap clap for your boy! :)

  8. One day he'll thank you for all the patience you have given for him to learn. Kids have educational gadgets these days and apps that help them to read and learn new words faster. My cousins who are two years of age already know how to read and write. They are really amazing!

  10. I guess it's how the parents brought up the children the basis on how intelligent or how responsible the kid grows up. So the commendation goes to the parent I guess. :D

  12. WOW!!! very impressive :) it's joy hearing the kids recognizing the words at the very young age. a baby of my friend uses another product that also impressed me so much as she was just 1 year old then and can demonstrate the words written in the flash cards. technology can really be very helpful aids when the use is regulated by parents.

  14. My son read at two so I know its possible to read early. Reading early is good but if in case a child reads later when he enters pre-school that's alright though. The important thing is he has genuine love for reading.
