Pres. Aquino is Partying while the Country is Mourning

It is amazing how social media plays an important part in our life. One tweet or Facebook Shout out will reach millions of people and create a big  impact. The latest is a tweet form Actress -host Valerie Concepcion from  her performance at the Malacanang Palace's Christmas Party.

I am out of the country  for years now and know a little about how Philippine President Aquino run the goverment .I don't want to judge him right away upon reading many articles about his partying while the country is mourning for the victims of typhoon Sendong that hit Cagayan De Oro and Iligan City so badly which has risen to 927 as of this date. The timing was just probably wrong. There is nothing wrong in partying with his staff . I believe that the issue here is about sensitivity. As I have said ,I am not in the right position to judge him.Let us all hope that the negative impact this tweet has made to him will be forgotten as soon as he move his  behind for the city's fast recovery. We need action Mr. President and not just press release from your office.President Benigno Aquino III according to the NDRRMC may visit and inspect Cagayan de Oro and Iligan Cities after Christmas but later on was moved before Christmas.

As of this writing,Valerie  deleted  the said tweet and posted another one in response to the negative reactions of people and probably the governmeent. in her tweet ,she said,

“I just want to clarify that I was invited to perform at MalacaƱang‘s Christmas Party for their employees with their husbands/wives and kids. Yes, the president attended the gathering. I do not see anything wrong with that since it’s his obligation and responsibility being the head of MalacaƱang to be present and show his support for his hardworking employees and their respective families. But I believe that it doesn’t mean that the president is not thinking of ways to help our kababayan(s) in Mindanao. It doesn’t mean that the president is disregarding the plight of our fellow Filipinos. Let’s not be too quick to judge.
“…But if I, in any way, offended you guys and sounded insensitive, I am very sorry. It wasn’t my intention to do either. I can’t imagine how difficult life is for the people affected in Mindanao and how difficult it is to be the president of the Philippines at this moment. Once again, I am very sorry for all those people I have offended. May God bless us all.”

  1. Actually we are beginning to get used of his habit, he let his people to work it out, as he conveniently comfortable in the palace. What I hate is his sisters depending him that he don't want to disturbs the people in CDO and Iligan that has been rescuing others. Does the Presidents prepare a pompous welcome despite more remains are on the mud? We really can't feel his supports to our kababayan in CDO & Iligan

  2. I really don't know what's wrong with Penoy. Kakainis na sya! We actually have topics in Polsci subject which focuses on him. Dame lang namin nalalaman about sa kanya na people would really regret why they've voted him.

  3. There's really nothing wrong with partying but he should have made sure that he was ready to go to CDO right after or maybe was able to send someone asap to CDO on his behalf.

  4. Many Filipino like PNOY and many also dislike him. But when people say that they've known a lot of negative about the PH President that becomes too personal. And it is easy to find faults of others! Tess is right that the head of the country has a lot of things to do, a lot of things to accomplish, a lot of things to prepare. Practically, he couldn't do that all. He has to delegate for some jobs to others whom he trusts. And also the President is a human being. He needs to party with others. Unavoidably worse things happened beyond his control. Is he right away to be blamed?

Lord forgive them for they know that they're doing!

  5. well, the good thing on this part is that we are now aware how the president works, i bet, he would not go to cagayan de oro and iligan if this did not happen because i don't remember knowing that he went to the victims of Ondoy.

  7. Practically speaking, whether the President has been too complacent or not, instead throwing stones at him [although he has his own character dilemma]. The real problem boils down against the illegal loggers, corruption of LGUs and the area's government on why did this happen. The past government should be accountable for this too, way back since Ramos days. It's not climate change but how the people behave and un-protect the area.

  9. Well, on my part, I think there is nothing wrong with Pinoy attending the party. He didnt stay long there and it is not a ground for us to judge him. we dont know the whole story and lets not one sided. :)

  10. I am not in the Philippines neither and reading such makes my heart break. Mas importante pa ba ang party sa buhay na nawala? Sigh. I hope they set a diff. example next time.

  11. The Aquino family should just apologize and stop defending the PNOY. Anyway, the Philippines is doomed, it's too much to ask for decency from their clan.

  12. People are so quick to judge, that's given. During the hype of Sendong, I don't think he didn't do something to help CDO before he went to that party. But i think the issue here is his insensitivity. He could have delayed the party. It's all been said and done. I think what we can do now is help our kababayan in CDO instead of wasting our time arguing if the president should party or not. Move on.

  13. Hmm I guess we should not be bias but to think that PNOY is repeatedly showing us people his actions that is quite disregarding our fellow countrymen , I think it would be truly disappointing. How many times did we heard related news .

  16. I cannot judge on this since I didn't know the details. PNoy might have dropped by to say hello to the employees. We shouldn't be too critical on him. Let's just do our part and help our kababayans.

  17. As for my opinion, I think there was nothing with the president attending a party. I believe that worse things happened, the typhoon and others, beyond his control.

  18. Seriously nothing wrong in this. He made sure that everything was in order before going to the party. He had prior obligations and he stayed there long enough to not seem rude to the people that works for him but not too long because he also has other matters to attend to.

Listen, he has other obligations and tasks as well being the head of state. He is doing what he can, so I don't get what's wrong.

  19. I always believe that the good managers are those who can get things done while sitting down. PNoy's early presence in the scene of disasters is good for PR (public relations) but knowing the victims' needs before going there is better. It is best if already have the solutions when he goes there.
