Memories of Christmas

We went to Hobby Lobby last week.My husband  is a coin collector and usually goes there to buy stuff for his coin collection hobby .After he got all the stuff  he needed we walked around to look for some Christmas decors. He told me to choose the Christmas tree that I want to.Being the kuripot (stingy0 me ,I told him that I will think about it first.I like  Christmas tree but I don't like the price from that store.Anyway,I was thinking of getting me one in some other place.

December is the most awaited year of the month because of Christmas. It is surprising how people  celebrate their Christmas according to their countries tradition. Here in the US Christmas preparation starts right after Thanksgiving.Unlike in the Philippines, we have the longest Christmas preparation which started at the "ber" months.I missed a lot of this when I started working overseas in 1999. I was always away from home every Christmas and New year .I only get connected with them through phone ,mailed photos,Friendster and now at Facebook.I used to  spend my  vacation during summer to Philippines  and  US  but never on a Christmas Season  .Gone are the days when I was still in the Philippines celebrating Christmas with my parents and siblings. We had so much fun together with children opening their christmas gifts, spending christmas days with other relatives, sharing the food that my mom prepared  for us  and attending the christmas eve mass.Looking at their photos.I relly feel sad and miss them so much. Some times,I wish to go  back to those days again just to be with them.

It seems that the cold weather makes me feel nostalgic today.Memories do come and go just to give way to a new and better one.Merry Christmas to all!

  9. We just finished decorating our Christmas tree last day. Though my sister wants a fresh Christmas tree, I and my mom still put up the "recycled" one. We just changed the Christmas ornaments plus colored lights on it. If I only have a longer time, I prefer also to make recycled hanging decors. Tsk. :)

  10. I always like Christmas decors, lights, trees, and most of all having your family with you. Since i left Pinas i always miss how we celebrate Christmas. Not put up a tree yet since we just bought it this morning but i have already lights and garlands hanging outside the house...Visiting from MLM!

  12. Same with the other moms out here, I didn't set-up the christmas tree this year, possibly because my kid and I has been suffering from chronic allergic rhinitis, I'm so fed up with dust particles, I felt like the christmas tree will accumulate tons of pollutants esp. when a busy online mom like me can't afford to clean it everyday. :) Babawi na lng sa christmas gifts! :)

  13. So true about the "ber" months. We Filipinos always do it with sentimental flare, don't we? :)

  14. I think with the hotter climate and higher cost of electricity, people are now thinking of changing their xmas tradition.

  15. Wala talagang tatalo sa Pasko ng mga Pinoy! :))

It's been 5 years, I think that we don't put up a Christmas tree. Our old Christmas tree which was even older than me, already gave up and so we let it go. Now we still don't have the budget to buy a decent Christmas tree. Thankfully my mama is so creative that she just decorated our plant that it looked like a Christmas tree hehe.

As long as we celebrate the true meaning of Christmas with our loved ones, I guess that is more important than decors and foods. :))

  16. I really miss Christmas in the Philippines. It's been 5 years since the last time I celebrated it with my family. Here they dont celebrate christmas but still I am happy to know that as Filipinos, we still have this happy feeling about christmas though we are too far from home. Nice post. :)

  19. I have fond memories of Christmas, especially growing up. That's why I'm big on events like this because I want my kids to have a happy childhood just like I did. We already put up our little tree, but I have yet to put up the big one.

Great Christmas pics! Bongga nga ang decor! :D

  20. like what we always say. IBA ANG PASKONG PINAS !! we don't have such big space of home to put up big christmas trees . I just bought a little one and put it on one corner. Cute siya kahit maliit kase i put our pictures as decors :))

  21. a lot of people nowadays don't have the same Christmas spirit as before... mahirap na kasi sigurong kitain ang pera ngayon and mataas na ang bilihin... just sad to here people telling kids... mangaroling kayo sa pasko na... Yahweh bless
